The presentation will give an overview about the use of exoskeletons for patients. As introduction we start with a short description about the to walk again foundation, founded in 2003 by paraplegic former Iron Man triathlon champion Marc Herremans and his coach. His mission was to make disability sports & related rehabilitation services accessible to all. “Getting human capital out of their wheelchairs” “Because inactivity paralyzes both mind and body”.
So now we are taking the next step: TWA-Post Rehabilitation Centres. An initiative by the To Walk Again Foundation, Orthopedie Van Haesendonck, AZ Herentals and Mobilab@ThomasMore. With this brand new initiative we want to set the standard for accessible, stimulating and progressive post-rehabilitation services through sports and exercise – pairing medical technology with expert medical and academic support.
This presentation will give an overview of the activities already done and planned. But we will do also give some results and give a demo with the exoskeleton. Continue reading ““Technology and care: the impact of use of exoskeleton for patients” – Presented by Lieven De Maesschalck, Mobilab”
The ultra-thin, multi-layer polymer technology used in the Bainisha concepts is a new generation of wearables. The patch allows to compare very similar moves at an hitherto unattainable resolution and hence identifies extremely small differences. The key advantage is that it is worn in a daily life environment without it causing any discomfort. Because of the 24/7 unbiased measurement we can detect low level anomalies such as distributing weight unfavourably during post arthoplasty rehabilitation or detect very slow change in gait of daily walking routine which could be used as an early warning system for Alzheimer’s disease. Tobias D. Gantner, MD, MBA, LL. M., HealthCare Futurists GmbH, Will Speak at the Health Tech Event about “Why we need to empower patients”
The main topic of this presentation speaks to disruptive and yet sustainable innovation in health-care that directly refers to patients and consumers benefits. Advances in technology push towards predictive medicine, which is rooted in big data (e.g. computer-generated biomarkers) and patient data-driven health-care. “In-Algorithmo-Diagnostics” will be one of the main drivers that will make health-care ubiquitous and thus give rise to democratization of health-care in the future. This reformation will change health-care, as we know it for the better through empowering patients, physicians and payers alike. Continue reading “Tobias D. The activity Better Nights, Fresh Days has been focusing on supporting first time parents with developing a healthy sleeping routing for their baby. Throughout history, parenthood has always been an exhausting period with several health risks lurking. Our solution lets parents celebrate this special period in their lives, instead of struggling with insecurity, fatigue and balancing all the demands they are suddenly faced with. Our solution tracks the sleeping pattern of the newborn in a way that is not noticeable or interfering to the family members.
